Why bees swarm

Our school drive had a swarm of bee's gathering on the rose bushes, Our teacher decided that we were going to write about (why bee's swarm.

When the queen bee leaves the beehive 60% of the worker bee's follow the queen out, almost working as a shield. They swarm around the queen, and this action is called swarming. These bee's were honey bee's and This occurred at lunch time. The worker bees create queen cups throughout the year. When the hive gets ready to swarm the queen lays eggs into the queen cups.

Norm Hewitt SPCA Assembly

This morning during a special meeting in the gym we had Norm Hewitt come in and present his "one of the family" presentation. He told us how His dad would go out to the pub when He was round seven years of age and get back after seven hours with cold fish and chips for everyone to eat, And if he was in a bad mood he would make a closed fist and beat Norm's mother. his indication to whether his dad was mad or not was the way he slammed or shut the door, If it slammed he knew his mother would be beaten that night. One night his father got so mad that he lined up all seven children and took off his belt, He eyed up Norm and whipped him, He would usually only whip him twice but norm showed no pain so his father carried on whipping. After that night Norm would run out into the paddock and hug his horse pledging that he would never hit or show a fist to his wife, children or anybody.

He told us how pets would help us bond the family together and hopefully stop family violence.

AIMS

AIMS, Association of Intermediate middle schools is held here in Tauranga every year. Last year I was In the Netball Development group, But this year I made it into the netball league team. AIMS is a sporting event hosted here by Tauranga where school across New zealand, Australia and the islands compete at sports. There have been over 6000 competitors this year and over 1000 viewers at the opening ceremony.

It was a great pleasure as I got to perform at the opening ceremony with our school (Boys Choir). We sang the songs we performed at our school production (Stop in the name of love, Sugar pie hunny bunch and In the air tonight.

During this comp my team from netball competed every day.We got Massages and Ice baths. We had one our category but ended up losing our position in the A grade pool. Our placing was 29th out of 83 teams so we weren't too bad.

I also made some new friends with a team from Otamatea.

The girls names are, Angel, Blossom,Kayla,Tasha,Portia,Ngapaea and Chelz. Tame first in the C pool.

We had an AIMS disco as well and I went up on stage.
